💻 ROADMAP
📲 Meta Updates
Fun fact: If you hold and swipe right on Instagram’s Carousel dots, it scrolls through the images with a stop motion effect. This seems to have surfaced around the New Year. You can see this in action on the Disneyland account, on this carousel from creator Elizabeth O’Farrelly and on creator Karen X’s latest post.
If you’re going to test this, try it early to stand out before audiences get tired of seeing the CTA to “hold and scroll.” Use it for a product demonstration, to feature a person or place from multiple angles or the passage of time (eg. a disappearing slice of pizza).
Instagram officially announced “Backdrop,” a new AI generative tool in Stories to change the background on your images.
Instagram is still working on a “Friends map” that allows you to share your location with friends and see what your friends are up to. This seems like a useful tool for brands and creators to promote local businesses and events but a potential nightmare for teens or any other vulnerable groups. This is one feature that’s probably best limited to professional accounts.
Facebook announced creators can now earn unlimited monthly payouts with Performance bonuses. The program is also opening up the Performance bonus to more creators in more countries.
Facebook announced it will to remove its dedicated news tab for users in the U.S. and Australia
Threads officially rolled out a “Save” option to bookmark posts for later. Tap the three-dot menu on a post and select save; you can find your saved posts in your settings.
📲 YouTube Updates
YouTube Create’s beta rolled out to 13 more countries this week from Australia to Brazil and Spain. Launched last September, the app allows mobile creators to upload, edit and post within YouTube Create with features like its audio cleanup tool to reduce background and ambient noise and royalty-free music library.
YouTube rolled out Collab — a side-by-side / split-screen format — to all creators on iOS and Android.
📲 TikTok Updates
TikTok launched the TikTok Trends Digest, a monthly guide to creating on-trend content.
A new setting has been spotted on TikTok to 'Identify similar products.’ This is part of TikTok’s aim to make every video shoppable whether or not you’ve tagged a product. The setting is turned on by default but creators can toggle it off during post-creation by clicking 'More options.'
📲 LinkedIn Updates
LinkedIn’s “Suggested Posts” are getting a makeover, prioritizing utility over virality. What that means is the algorithm will reward “knowledge and advice” style content, so your most useful posts could be shown to targeted users for weeks, months or even years.
📲 Twitter (X) Updates
Twitter (X) is rolling out audio and video calls for all iOS and Android users.
Twitter (X) will soon show your pinned posts to all of your followers

🤩 Social listening led Nuuly to a partnership with Sabrina Brier
Creator-comedian Sabrina Brier drove 20% of all influencer traffic to Nuuly’s website in 2023. That is impact!
It all came about after the clothing rental company saw the organic interest Sabrina’s audience had in her outfits. They partnered for several campaigns — that fit into her relatable character skits. One of which resulted in their most engaged Nuuly influencer post to date!
As I shared last week in this paid subscriber piece, “Why Brands Need to Let Creators Take the Wheel,” tap into what creators are already doing. The result is content audiences actually want to watch and share with friends.
✈️ The Tarte Trip To Bora Bora Gift Boxes Look Unreal
How does Tarte build upon the media buzz they got for their last influencer trip? With personalized pre-trip mailers sent to all the women traveling with them to Bora Bora. These PR packages are being unboxed and analyzed all over the internet before anyone’s even set foot on a plane. I’m obsessed and might do a deeper dive on this one but let’s see what happens when everyone lands in the South Pacific.

LOVE the carousel stop motion! Especially since it's not necessarily a new feature - just a creative realization of something we've had all along. Also the OLIPOP job is a ✨dream✨
